Hey all you Tadmor Campers!
This is a reminder for those of you who are going to Tadmor this August that our first service days is this Saturday from 10am to Noon. We are meeting at the church, not Boberg!
I'm looking forward to hanging out with those of you who can make it. Please email me and let me know that you'll be there.
This service day is for those of you who are
1. Taking advantage of the reduced payment option for Camp Tadmor
2. Interested in helping out the church with a couple hours of nothing-in-return service.
As I think about this service day, I'm more interested in you showing up because of #2.
I'm learning more about the way God has given us to have fun. Serving others! I'm serious. And serving with friends makes it even better. And the feeling that God gives us after sacrificing a little of our time to help people out is really rewarding too.
Some times we get into ruts of being a little too greedy or prideful. Serving others helps take care of that too. So it's also a chance for us to be responsible for our own lives. We decide each day whether we're going to be jerks or going to be cool to our family and friends. If you think you've been a little more jerk than cool lately, serving others is a great way to get out of that rut.
I'm sure you know the Golden Rule, right? It's found in Luke 6:31and the Message says it in a great way,
"Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them!"
Camp Tadmor is going to be awesome. Some of you are going to have to work hard to get the money to make it happen. It's going to feel really good to know that you did what you had to do to have an awesome time this Summer. For those of you who aren't so worried about money, I think it's a real blessing that your family has the means to make camp happen. Either way, I challenge you to find opportunities like this Saturday to serve, giving your time and effort as an act of worship and sacrifice to God for the way He has blessed and will bless your life this Summer!
