We had a great time at Bullwinkles this past Tuesday.  I want to personally thank the crew that got me so wet I had to change out of my T Shirt.  You know who you are.  No candy for you.  : )

I hope to see you this Sunday.  We're going to continue our talk on who Jesus is and the conversations he had with people that changed their lives. 

I'm having such a great time hanging out with you guys this year.  I can't wait for more fun memories!

Talking 'bout Jesus and a New News Update!

Hey everybody, it was great to see you all at the fall kick-off yesterday. 

I thought it was a great start to the year.  The games were a blast and the BBQ was extra yummy!  I'm also excited to start talking more about Jesus and who He is to us. 

I said last night that it's not our job to convince people they need Jesus.  It's our job to show people we're convinced we need Jesus, that He's the most important person in our lives!  So the next few weeks are going to be important because we're going to find out more about who Jesus is and the kind of life He desires for us to live. 

So with that in mind, keep inviting your friends to Surge meetings and to the fun events.

I also wanted to tell you that we're going to put a hold on the New News is Good News contest.  Instead of the contest, we're just going to ask Surge parents and students  to forward the event registration links for Back to school Bash and I.N.S.A.N.E. to friends who you would love to see there. The events are going to be a lot of fun and I hope we're all able to make it.  Remember, there are work scholarships available!

Thanks for being flexible with that!

I talked to Drew last night and asked him to write down who Jesus is to him.  It was really cool what he wrote and I'm looking forward to sharing that with all of you in one of my talks.

Fall Kick Off and more!

Hey Surge!

We're looking forward to kicking off the school year with hamburgers and hotdogs tomorrow night at Surge!  We're going to have a few great games and a lot of fun. 

The cost is free, but there will be a donation box.  We're collecting money to help buy clean socks and underwear to hand out to folks in need during our Making Waves event, Nightstrike, in November.  Keep your eyes posted for more info on this over-night service retreat -it's going to be awesome! 

I hope that you can all make it tomorrow, 7-9pm at the Boberg youth room.   

Also, make sure to sign up for our Back to School Bash at Bullwinkles coming up next Tuesday and  I.N.S.A.N.E.! (I Need a Surge All-Nighter Event) at Safari Sams coming October 10-11!

In Arlington, Texas, Dexter Dwayne Williams, 47, walked into a bank, handed the teller a hold-up note that he'd written on the back of one of his personal checks, took an unspecified amount of cash, ran out of the bank to the parking lot and jumped into his car, which is about the time he realized he'd left his car keys inside the bank, the doors of which, by this time, had been locked by employees.

And along with getting a good education, this guy could have learned that stealing stuff from banks is um, NOT GOOD.
